Dream 4×4 Jeep Trail Ride Event: Mt. Baldy and Suran Wrap/Eagle Rock Trails
Mt. Baldy and Suran Wrap/ Eagle Rock Trail Ride by Dream 4×4
When man and machine invite nature to the party, you’re bound to have a great time! Dream 4×4 understands
the importance of adventure and how to “Live the Lifestyle”. Each year we gather anyone and everyone for a trail ride events into the mountain back country trails. No matter if you are a novice or expert trail rider, we want you to join!
On Saturday, July 22nd, 2017 we set out on Dream 4×4’s 2nd trail ride event of the year. Dream 4×4 lead a group of 13 Jeeps down Mt. Baldy Trail (trail 379) and the Wheelers for the Wounded of Colorado joined us too and lead a group of 6 Jeeps down Suran Wrap /Eagle Rock Trail. The day started gray and turned into sun and fun soon enough! What a beautifully scenic trail!
We set out from Dream 4×4’s Shop in Colorado Springs at 7:30am on Saturday July 22nd, 2017. After a quick pit-stop for fuel, we joined the entire crew at the start of Old Stage Road on the outskirts of Colorado Springs, CO. Right where the tar meets the garvel. After everyone that wanted to aired down, we set out in two different groups. The 13 Jeeps that were headed up Mt. Baldy Trail (trail 379) went first. However our first stop near Penrose-Rosemont Reservoir the Wheelers for the Wounded of Colorado crew passed us by on their way to Suran Wrap/Eagle Rock Trail.
The Mt. Baldy Trail crew got up to the first scenic overlook by 11:30am. Another fellow Jeeper joined our pack making us 14 deep the rest of the time. After sometime looking around and taking in the spectacular views, we had to deploy our Dream 4×4 rescue team to assit in getting a fellow 4x4er unstuck. It’s never a good idea to drive up a hiking trail instead of a 4×4 trail…But Jeff and one Dream 4×4’s Technicians, Tory, managed to winch him free. Had we headed out he would have been
stranded. That’s the kind of thing I love about this community, everyone is supportive of their fellow riders.
Next, we started heading back down the mountains to our last pit-stop before heading back to Dream. It was fun driving through streams along our travels.
Some of us were able to put their lockers to the test and climb up a large, steep incline. This area we ended up in was very beautiful! Flowing streams, mountains surrounding us on all sides, wild flowers all over, and some mud.
After the fun was to be had, we loaded up and went back to Dream 4×4 for some grilled burgers and dogs. Some of us had to pick up a couple replacement parts. All in a Jeep’s day’s work.
It was a pleasure to be joined by John and Ryan of the Wheelers for the Wounded of Colorado! It was even greater that they lead a group experienced Jeepers up Suran Wrap/Eagle Rock! They will be hosting a trail ride for Veterans on Veterans Day. Check out the “Wheelers for the Wounded
of Colorado” on Facebook for more details.
